Like the original Air Max 1 from 1987, the "White Black" version was designed with comfort in mind and includes design elements that pay tribute to the original. For example, the sneaker features wavy mudguards and overlapping overlays. The waffle design on the rubber outsole is another feature that pays homage to the sneaker’s running roots. It also provides traction without adding bulky lugs. While white is the base’s dominant color, the leather overlays come in Pure Platinum and the mudguard is black. Notable branding elements include the branding on the side panels and the retro-inspired logo tag on the tongue.
